A recent segment on the DR. Oz Show highlighted the dangers of carrying a heavy handbag and it effects and relationship to neck, back and shoulder pain.
Dr. Oz referred to the American Chiropractic Association's recommendation that women never carry handbags that weigh more than 10% of their body weight.
At Arizona Spinal Care Scottsdale, Airpark 85260, we make this recommendation on a daily basis as we assist our female patients with their purses.
Ladies, you know whou you are!
The same holds true with childrens backpacks.
Kids carry way to much weight on one shoulder. Studies have clearly shown that this develops assymetry and tightness in the neck, traps, shoulder and upper back. Later as adults this can lead to headaches and ongoing spinal problems.
